Christmas Road Trip: #4 On the Road to Love

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2  He was already with God in the beginning. 3  Everything came into existence through him. Not one thing that exists was made without him… 14 The Word became human and lived among us. We saw his glory. It was the glory that the Father shares with his only Son, a glory full of kindness and truth.

John 1:2,3, 14 (GW)

3 WAYS JESUS BECOMING HUMAN DISPLAYS GOD’S LOVE FOR ME:

1. BY SACRIFICING HIS BODY TO SAVE ME.

She will have a son, and you will name Him Jesus, which means “the Lord saves,” because this Jesus is the person who will save all of His people from sin. Matthew 1:21 (VOICE)

I, the Son of Man, came to look for people who are far away from God. They are in danger, and I have come to save them.’

Luke 19:10 (EASY)

I received the good news from Christ, and I told that message to you. I told you the most

important things Christ died as a sacrifice for our sins.

The Bible already said how that would happen.

1 Corinthians 15:3 EASY

Then he took bread, and he thanked God for it. He broke the bread into pieces and gave it to each of them. He said, ‘This is my body. I am giving it to save you. When you eat this meal from now on, remember me.’

Luke 22:19 (EASY)

For this is the blood that seals the new covenant. It will be poured out for many for the complete forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 26:28 (TP)

  • The giving of Christ’s life began at Christ’s birth.

Christ himself was like God in everything. But he did not think that being equal with God was

something to be used for his own benefit. 7  But he gave up his place with God and made himself nothing. He was born as a man and became like a servant. 8  And when he was living as a man, he humbled himself and was fully obedient to God, even when that caused his death—death on a cross.

Philippians 2:6-8 (NCV)

…our love for him comes as a result of his loving us first.

1 John 4:19 (TLB)

So, we must cling in faith to all we know to be true. For we have a magnificent King-Priest, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who rose into the heavenly realm for us, now sympathizes with us in our frailty.  15 He understands humanity, for as a Man, our magnificent King-Priest was tempted in every way just as we are, and conquered sin.

Hebrews 4:14-15 (TP)

2. BY LEAVING HIS BODY TO SUPPORT ME.

He is the head of his body, the church. He is the beginning, the first of those to be reborn from the dead, so that in every aspect, at every view, in everything—He is first.

Colossians 1:18 (VOICE)

  • Jesus gave his body for my eternal need then…

Be careful for yourselves and for all the people God has given you. The Holy Spirit gave you the work of caring for this flock. You must be shepherds to the church of God, the people he bought with his own blood.

Acts 20:28 (ERV)

3. BY COMMISSIONING HIS BODY TO SANCTIFY ME.

…You are a special people that God has chosen. …priests who serve a King. You are his own holy people who belong to him. He has taken you out of the dark place of sin, and he has brought you into his great light. He has done all this so

that you can tell people how great he is.

1 Peter 2:9-10 (EASY)

… this is a gift from our Creator God, who has pursued us and brought us into a restored and healthy relationship with Him through the Anointed. And He has given us the same mission, the ministry of reconciliation, to bring others back to Him.  19  It is central to our good news that God was in the Anointed making things right between Himself and the world. This means He does not hold their sins against them. But it also means He charges us to proclaim the message that heals and restores our broken

relationships with God and each other.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (VOICE)
