To Be Continued ... #38 Continuing Resolutions - Part 1

ACTS IMPACT MUST BE CONTINUED, SO I RESOLVE THAT…

1. I WILL SUBMIT TO THE JESUS OF ACTS.

All the people of Israel should know beyond a doubt that God made Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ… Peter said much more to warn them. He urged, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

Act 2:36, 40 (GW)

● Jesus will be my LORD!

● Jesus will be my anointed KING!

…after his suffering he showed himself alive to them in many convincing ways and appeared to them repeatedly over a period of forty days talking with them about the affairs of the KINGdom of God.

Acts 1:3 (PHILLIPS)

He bravely preached about God's KINGdom and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ, and no one tried to stop him.

Acts 28:31 (NLT)

● Jesus will be my SAVIOR!

2. I WILL SURRENDER MY LIFE TO CHRIST'S PURPOSE.

So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:6-8 (NLT)

● The POWER was given for the PURPOSE.

Peter said to them, “Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God's gift, the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 (GW)

Don’t drink too much wine, for many evils lie along that path; be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him.

Ephesians 5:18 (TLB)

If you use your lives to do what your sinful selves want, you will die spiritually. But if you use the Spirit's help to stop doing the wrong things you do with your body, you will have true life.

Romans 8:13 (ERV)

Then Jesus said, “All the authority of the universe has been given to me. Now wherever you go [GO IN MY AUTHORITY], make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 (TP)

3. I WILL CONTRIBUTE TO GODLY FELLOWSHIP.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

Acts 2:42 (NLT)

The believers spent their time listening to the teaching of the apostles. They shared everything with each other. They ate together and prayed together.

Acts 2:42 ERV

All the believers were in fellowship as one body, and they shared with one another whatever they had. Out of generosity they even sold their assets to distribute the proceeds to those who were in need among them.

Acts 2:44, 45 TP

I will be committed to…

  • I will be committed to studying God's Word.

  • I will be committed to giving generously.

  • I will be committed to eating together.

  • I will be committed to praying together.

4. I WILL CHAMPION A MIGHTY GOD.

As soon as they were freed, Peter and John returned to the other believers and told them what the leading priests and elders had said. When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God: "O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them You spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, Your servant, saying, 'Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the LORD and against His Messiah.' "In fact, this has happened here in this very city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, Your holy servant, whom You anointed. But everything they did was determined beforehand according to Your will. And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, Your servants, great boldness in preaching Your word. Stretch out Your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus." After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.

Acts 4:23 - 31 NLT
