  • To Be Continued... #2 - The Kingdom: Where? When? What?

WHERE WOULD THE KINGDOM COME? The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by me at my right side until I put your enemies under your control.” The Lord will make you king in Jerusalem over all nations. And you will rule your enemies in their own countries. Psalm 110:1, 2 (ICB) You, Bethlehem of Ephrathah, even though you remain least among the clans of Judah, nevertheless, the one who rules in Israel for me will emerge from you. His existence has been from antiquity, even from eternity. Micah 5:2 (ISV) Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet He is humble, riding on a donkey--riding on a donkey's colt. Zechariah 9:9 (NLT) “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance...” Joel 2:28, 32a (NIV) WHEN WOULD THE KINGDOM COME? “You saw that the feet and toes of the statue were partly clay and partly iron. That means the fourth kingdom will be a divided kingdom. It will have some of the strength of iron in it just as you saw the iron mixed with clay. The toes of the statue were partly iron and partly clay. So the fourth kingdom will be partly strong like iron and partly weak like clay. You saw the iron mixed with clay, but iron and clay don’t completely mix together. In the same way the people of the fourth kingdom will be a mixture. They will not be united as one people. “During the time of the kings of the fourth kingdom, the God of heaven will set up another kingdom that will continue forever. It will never be destroyed. And it will be the kind of kingdom that cannot be passed on to another group of people. This kingdom will crush all the other kingdoms. It will bring them to an end, but that kingdom itself will continue forever. “King Nebuchadnezzar, you saw a rock cut from a mountain, but no one cut that rock. The rock broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold to pieces. In this way God showed you what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and you can trust that this is what it means.” Daniel 2:31-45 (ERV) The LORD All-Powerful says, "I am sending my messenger to prepare the way for me. Then suddenly, the Lord you are looking for will come to his temple. Yes, the messenger you are waiting for, the one who will tell about my agreement, is really coming!" Malachi 3:1 (ERV) But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary… You will become pregnant and give birth to a son. You must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord God will make him a king like his father David of long ago. He will rule forever over his people, who came from Jacob's family. His kingdom will never end. Luke 1:30-33 (NIrV) In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming! Clear the road for him!’ Matthew 3:1-3 (NLT) From then on, Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, because the kingdom from heaven is near!” Matthew 4:17 (ISV) Jesus went on to say, “I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!” Mark 9:1 (NLT) WHAT IS THE KINGDOM? It is God’s repentant and ruled people: The church of God He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.. Colossians 1:12- 14 (NLT) … you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. …for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT) “Church” comes from the Greek ekklēsía, meaning “called out” Then Peter stood up with the eleven apostles. In a loud voice he said to them, "Men of Judea and everyone living in Jerusalem! You must understand this, so pay attention to what I say… this is what the prophet Joel spoke about: In the last days, God says, I will pour my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will speak what God has revealed. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams…. Acts 2:14-16 (GW) Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, "The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand… Acts 2:14, 16-17 (NIV) Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call. "With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Acts 2:36-40 (NIV)

  • To Be Continued... (Part 1)

IF “ACTS CHURCH” IMPACT IS TO BE CONTINUED I MUST… 1. MAKE SHARING THE GOSPEL MY GREATEST PRIORITY. Three days later Paul called a meeting of the Jewish leaders. So they came. Paul said to them, "My brothers, I have done nothing against our people. I have also done nothing against what our people of long ago practiced. But I was arrested in Jerusalem. I was handed over to the Romans. "They questioned me. And they wanted to let me go. They saw I wasn't guilty of any crime worthy of death. But the Jews objected, so I had to make an appeal to Caesar. I certainly did not mean to bring any charge against my own people. Acts 28:17-19 (NIrV) I share Israel's hope. That is why I am held with this chain. So I have asked to see you and talk with you." They replied, "We have not received any letters from Judea about you. None of our companions who came from there has reported or said anything bad about you. But we want to hear what your ideas are. We know that people everywhere are talking against those who believe as you do." At that time even more people came to the place where he was staying. From morning until evening, he told them about God's kingdom… Acts 28:20-22, 23b (NIrV) I am not lying when I say that my conscience and the Holy Spirit are witnesses It may sound extreme; but I wish that I were lost, cursed, and totally separated from the Anointed—if that would change the eternal destination of my brothers and sisters, my flesh and countrymen. Romans 9:1b-3 (VOICE) 2. UNDERSTAND WHAT THE GOSPEL INVOLVES. … he told them about God's kingdom and explained it to them. Using the Law of Moses and the Prophets, he tried to get them to believe in Jesus. Acts 28:23b • You should not embrace what you don’t understand. • You cannot teach what you don’t understand. As we said before, so I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)! Galatians 1:9(AMPC) • The “gospel” involves a kingdom. Those under charge. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world… Matthew 24:14a (NIV) • The “gospel” (good news) involves a King. One in charge. • The “gospel” involves salvation. The result of trusting the king. 3. KNOW WHAT MY RESPONSIBILITY IS, AND WHAT IT ISN’T. • It is my responsibility to share the truth. In love. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love… Ephesians 4:15a (MP) • It is not my responsibility to determine the response. Some believed what he said. Others did not. They didn't agree with each other. They began to leave after Paul had made a final statement. He said, "The Holy Spirit was right when he spoke to your people long ago. Through Isaiah the prophet the Spirit said, "'Go to your people. Say to them, "You will hear but never understand. You will see but never know what you are seeing." These people's hearts have become stubborn. They can barely hear with their ears. They have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes. They might hear with their ears. They might understand with their hearts. They might turn, and then I would heal them.' (Isaiah 6:9,10)"Here is what I want you to know. God has sent his salvation to people who are not Jews. And they will listen!" Acts 28:24-28 (NIrV) 4. DETERMINE TO NEVER ABANDON MY MISSION. For two whole years Paul stayed there in a house he rented. He welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He preached boldly about God's kingdom. No one could keep him from teaching people about the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 28:24-28 (NIRV) Do you see what this means--all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running--and never quit! Hebrews 12:1 (MP)

  • The Powerful Gift Of Purpose #2

JESUS WAS COMMISSIONED BY THE FATHER TO SAVE THE LOST. Then after her baby is born, name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21 (CEV) God didn’t send His Son into the world to judge it; instead, He is here to rescue a world headed toward certain destruction. John 3:17 (VOICE) WE ARE COMMISSIONED BY THE SON TO SAVE THE LOST. Just as You sent Me into the world, I am sending them into the world. John 17:18 (NLT) I am here speaking with all the authority of God, who has commanded Me to give you this commission: Go out and make disciples in all the nations. Matthew 28:18, 19 (VOICE) THIS GIFT OF MISSION REQUIRES ME TO DO ALL I CAN DO… 1. …TO TALK LIKE JESUS For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19 (NLT) So faith comes from hearing the Good News. And people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ. Romans 10:17 (ERV) The Word took on flesh and became human… to live alongside us. We have seen Him, enveloped in undeniable splendor—the one true Son of the Father—evidenced in the perfect balance of grace and truth. John 1:14 (VOICE) Like Jesus I must speak words of Grace. “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, for He has anointed Me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” Luke 4:18, 19 (NLT) Like Jesus I must speak words of Truth. I have given them Your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. John 17:14 (NIV) I solemnly instruct you to… proclaim the Word of God and stand upon it no matter what! Rise to the occasion and preach when it is convenient and when it is not. 2 Timothy 4:1b, 2 (TPT) 2. …TO WALK LIKE JESUS. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by Your truth; teach them Your word, which is truth. John 17:16, 17 (NLT) We have cause to celebrate because the grace of God has appeared, offering the gift of salvation to all people. Grace arrives with its own instruction: run away from anything that leads us away from God; abandon the lusts and passions of this world; live life now in this age with awareness and self-control, doing the right thing and keeping yourselves holy. Titus 2:11-12 (VOICE) …whoever says he lives in Christ [that is, whoever says he has accepted Him as God and Savior] ought [as a moral obligation] to walk and conduct himself just as He walked and conducted Himself. 1 John 2:6 (AMP) Be careful about the way you live and about what you teach. Keep on doing this, and you will save not only yourself, but the people who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:16 (CEV) 3. …TO CARE LIKE JESUS. God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. Whoever puts his trust in God’s Son will not be lost but will have life that lasts forever. John 3:16 (NLV) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep in His care. The hired hand is not like the shepherd caring for His own sheep. When a wolf attacks, snatching and scattering the sheep, he runs for his life, leaving them defenseless. The hired hand runs because he works only for wages and does not care for the sheep. John 10:11-13 (VOICE) Jesus displayed his care for people through serving them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14 (NIV) Jesus displayed his care for people through teaching them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. Mark 6:34 (NIV) This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17, 18 (NLT)

Support Ministries The Manasseh Ministries are designed to aide with hurts, habits, and hang-ups. We use God’s word to help us heal from the past, break cycles of brokenness, and transform us into a new creation. We believe the best way to heal from the past is by learning how to heal and helping others heal. Each class is offered in the Spring and/or the Fall semesters, depending on class sizes and availability. Healing is a Choice Healing is a Choice is committed to taking the hurts and pains that come from living in a fallen world and using them to grow, change and glorify God. We focus on embracing the moments in life that have wounded us and allow God to not only heal them, but use them for his glory. Grief Share If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member or friend it’s probably hard for you to feel excited about the future. There is also a good chance that you’ve found there are not many people who really understand the depth of your hurt. Grief Share is a 13 week support group designed to help you rebuild your life. Wounded Heart The damage done by childhood sexual abuse does not simply heal when one becomes an adult – it lingers and continues to have an affect often times without victims even being aware of it. Wounded Heart support groups help victims of abuse not only understand how that trauma affects them day to day, but also how to address it biblically. This class is offered separately for men and women. Game Plan People everywhere are under attack – your neighbor, your coworker, your pastor, and even your husband or wife. Who is this devastating adversary? Pornography. It floods our airwaves and PCs, assaulting the senses, and luring its prey to return again and again. The Game Plan is a seven-week class to help gain strategies for combatting this common struggle. This class is offered separately for men and women. Anger Management Anger is not a sin. It’s a natural emotion. The problems occur in how you express it. Uncontrolled, anger can destroy a life, a marriage, a family, or a job. The good news is that anger can be managed. In the class Anger Management, you will find better ways to handle the confusing yet natural emotion – anger. Doubters Anonymous Can the Bible be trusted? Is the Bible a historically reliable document? Did Jesus really raise from dead or even exist? Doubters Anonymous is a safe environment for doubters alike to voice and seek answers to the questions they have. In this 10 week class we’ll be going through the book Case for Christ by Lee Strobel to seek out answers to your questions.
